President Launches Verbal Attack on Somali Americans Amid Deportation Surge

by admin477351

The President delivered inflammatory remarks about Somali immigrants during a cabinet meeting, using derogatory language to describe both the community and a prominent congressional representative of Somali descent. His comments characterized Somali immigrants as contributing nothing to American society and expressed his desire to remove them from the country.
The remarks coincided with reports of intensified immigration enforcement operations targeting Minneapolis-St Paul, home to America’s largest Somali population. Federal authorities are deploying approximately 100 immigration agents from across the nation to conduct what sources describe as coordinated enforcement actions focusing on individuals with outstanding deportation orders.
The timing of these operations follows controversies involving fraud cases linked to some Somali residents who allegedly misrepresented information to obtain government benefits for meal programs, medical services, housing assistance, and autism care. These cases, spanning several years and involving dozens of individuals, have been amplified by conservative media and political figures.
Treasury officials announced investigations into whether Minnesota taxpayer funds were diverted to foreign terrorist organizations, citing recent reporting from conservative outlets. The administration had previously threatened to revoke protected status for Somalis in Minnesota, describing the state as a center for financial crimes.
Minneapolis city leadership responded by reaffirming support for their Somali community, emphasizing that local police do not participate in federal immigration enforcement. The mayor stressed that approximately 80,000 Somalis live in Minnesota, with most holding citizenship or legal residency status, and warned that enforcement actions could result in wrongful detention of American citizens based solely on appearance.
