Kazakhstan and the United States have reinforced their strategic partnership, focusing on expanding economic cooperation and joint projects, during a meeting in Samarkand on October 19. The discussions, held between Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, emphasized strengthening bilateral relations through increased trade, investment, and collaboration in sectors such as energy, critical minerals, digitalization, and transport.
The meeting served as a platform to revisit and progress agreements made during a previous summit between Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and former US President Donald Trump in November 2025. Tileuberdi highlighted the potential for US investment and the application of advanced technologies, particularly in energy and transport infrastructure, as key areas for further collaboration.
The bilateral talks were part of the C5+1 Ministerial Meeting, which included discussions between the United States and the five Central Asian countries. This broader regional meeting focused on economic development, trade, investment, and connectivity across the region. Participants underscored the significance of enhancing transport and logistics networks, diversifying supply chains, and pursuing joint initiatives in energy, critical minerals, and digital innovation.
The C5+1 meeting concluded with a joint statement from all participants, affirming their commitment to long-term cooperation and the implementation of agreed-upon initiatives. The discussions reflect a mutual interest in deepening ties and leveraging shared opportunities for economic growth and regional stability.
