Kazakhstan and Germany have committed to enhancing their economic partnership through expanded cooperation in investment, infrastructure, industry, and transport. This development follows talks between Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin on September 29, where the two leaders focused on strengthening bilateral relations and exploring future collaboration opportunities.
President Tokayev emphasized the significance of Germany as a strategic partner for Kazakhstan in Europe, highlighting the progress made in their relationship over the past 30 years. As part of the discussions, Tokayev proposed the establishment of a Kazakhstan-Germany Investment and Financial Platform. This initiative aims to facilitate joint projects and increase investment flows between the two countries.
During his visit, Tokayev also engaged with German business leaders to discuss potential areas for collaboration, including transport and logistics, industrial localization, engineering, metallurgy, and waste processing. The discussions covered the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, improvements to railway infrastructure, and the expansion of manufacturing capabilities within Kazakhstan.
Both nations are keen on exploring opportunities for German companies to participate in Kazakhstan’s industrial and infrastructure projects. This move could provide these companies with greater access to the broader Central Asian market, thereby enhancing their international reach and influence.
