Sa’ar Condemns Diplomatic ‘Lies’ and ‘Fake Propaganda Campaign’

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar has publicly condemned Hamas for a “sadistic propaganda campaign” and, in a sharp critique, alleged that the “starvation campaign of lies” is a “fake propaganda campaign.” His comments came after the release of videos showing two Israeli captives, Evyatar David and Rom Braslavski, in a dire state. Sa’ar stated that the starvation and torture of these individuals are a “deliberate and well-planned” propaganda tactic.
The minister drew a strong parallel between Hamas’s actions and the crimes of the Nazis and ISIS. He also criticized the lack of international oversight, noting that the 50 remaining hostages have not been seen by the Red Cross, despite an explicit agreement. Sa’ar asserted that the amount of aid entering Gaza proves that the starvation narrative is a “fake propaganda campaign” intended to manipulate global opinion.
He warned that hostage-taking is a dangerous global phenomenon used by terror groups to ensure their survival and interests. Sa’ar urged the international community to make it “not worthwhile” for terrorists to kidnap civilians. To press this issue, he announced his travel to New York for a special UN Security Council session he initiated to put the hostage situation “front and center on the world stage.”
In his address, Sa’ar also took aim at the international media for a perceived “unbalanced and twisted anti-Israeli agenda.” He condemned countries for what he called a “distortion” of reality by creating a false “symmetry” between hostages and terrorists, and for taking diplomatic steps that have only rewarded Hamas and “assassinated the chances” of a hostage deal.
