Türkiye and Kyrgyzstan have pledged to enhance their bilateral relationship by boosting collaboration in trade, investment, and transportation, while also supporting diplomatic resolutions to international conflicts. This commitment was solidified at the seventh meeting of the Türkiye-Kyrgyzstan Joint Strategic Planning Group held in Ankara, co-chaired by the foreign ministers of both nations.
During the meeting, officials assessed the progress of their bilateral relations and agreed to intensify cooperation in vital sectors such as education, cultural exchanges, and economic development. Plans for upcoming reciprocal visits by Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan were also on the agenda, reflecting the importance of high-level diplomatic engagements in their partnership.
Economic collaboration emerged as a key focus, with both governments committing to support new investment initiatives and create conducive environments for businesses. They also emphasized the need to enhance travel, employment, and educational opportunities, thereby strengthening ties between their peoples. Regional connectivity was a significant topic of discussion, with Kyrgyzstan emphasizing the strategic importance of the Middle Corridor. The country aims to connect the proposed China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway to this corridor, facilitating improved market access in Europe and the Middle East via Türkiye.
The foreign ministers also addressed regional and global security concerns, underscoring their dedication to resolving disputes through dialogue, diplomacy, and adherence to international law. Kyrgyzstan expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s mediation efforts in the region and conveyed gratitude for Ankara’s support in securing a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council for the 2027–2028 term. This position will enable Kyrgyzstan to promote dialogue among nations and advocate for the interests of landlocked developing countries, mountainous nations, and small island states on the international platform.
